Our Classes

The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) offer a series of examinations from Children’s Grades through to professional teaching qualifications. The style reflects the influence of American Tap on British Musical Theatre.

Ballet

Ballet provides a dancer with the technical training of the body that forms the basis for all dance forms. It stretches muscles, increases mobility in the joints and strengthens the torso’s core muscles. Ballet also builds up stamina and produces an inner discipline of mind and body.

Our classes teach students to work as both a soloist and as part of a team, and co-ordinates movement with musicality and performance skills. We believe that ballet gives a student exceptional deportment and a strong sense of achievement, and its fun!

Modern Dance

Modern dance defies a single permanent definition. Mostly due to it’s ability to develop and evolve with the changing fashions in dance. Through a carefully planned and well tried examination syllabus, which combines modern dance, jazz and other dance styles, young people are trained to to become disciplined and versatile dancers who have a professional attitude towards dance.

Tap Dance

Apart from being an essential skill for the professional dancer, tap dance is one of the most enjoyable and rhythmic forms of recreational dance.

Tap turns the dancer into a percussive instrument who accompanies, enhances and experiments with the musicians providing the music. It is therefore essential that the dancer not only looks good through dance technique and training but sounds good with an acute sense of timing and an agility of footwork.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

Acrobatic Arts

Acrobatic Arts is the fusion of Dance technique and Acrobatic elements which will increase the dancers flexibility and improve their line and extension, strength for balance, tumbling and partner work.
Acro-Dance is not the same as Gymnastics and requires different training. Dance training is essential to the success of the Acro-Dancer.
The students will learn to seamlessly incorporate their Acro skills into dance routines.

 Musical Theatre

Combines singing, dancing and acting to develop skills and confidence. Includes study pieces from musicals and the chance to perform on the stage.
